ILIVS login: access your Illinois insurance notice

The vehicle-owner notice page asks for your ILIVS reference number, license plate number and the five-digit ZIP code shown on the notice. Use that page to view the case and follow available response or payment steps.

Use the official vehicle-owner notice page

Start at the official ILIVS notice login. The Secretary of State links to ILIVS as part of its mandatory insurance program. Check the website address before entering your case details.

The vehicle-owner notice form is different from the registration and sign-in pages for insurance agents and companies. You do not need to create an insurance producer account to use the public notice form.

What information do I need?

Required itemWhere to find it
ILIVS reference numberNear the top of the notice; request a lookup if it is missing.
License plate numberUse the plate connected with the notice.
Five-digit ZIP codeUse the ZIP shown on the notice.
Ownership or authorization confirmationConfirm only if you are the registered owner or authorized to act for that owner.

If you moved after the notice was created, the ZIP on your current mailing address may differ from the notice. Follow the portal’s instructions and address any registration-record changes with the state.

Can I log in with only a VIN?

The public notice form requires the reference number, plate and ZIP. It does not offer a VIN-only replacement for those fields. Our office can use your VIN or plate to begin reference-number assistance after verifying registered ownership.

Complete the reference lookup request if you need the missing case number. If you have no numbers available right now, start with your contact details and provide them during follow-up.

Why will the login not accept my information?

  • Check for a typing error in the reference number.
  • Confirm that the plate belongs to the vehicle and notice you are trying to access.
  • Use the five-digit ZIP on that notice.
  • Compare multiple notices carefully; an older case may involve another vehicle or date.
  • Make sure you are on the vehicle-owner notice page rather than an agent account page.

If the details still do not match, keep the notice available and request help with the case. A failed login does not prove that the vehicle was uninsured or that the suspension is resolved.

What can I do after opening the notice?

Review the case information and use the options available for your situation. The official guidance includes responses for stored or inoperable vehicles and payment after current compliance information is provided. If the notice asks for insurance evidence, contact the insurer or agent responsible for that coverage.

For a missing payment option, see ILIVS online payment help. For an earlier insured date, use the insurance verification checklist.

Is ILIVS.com legitimate?

Yes. ILIVS.com is the insurance verification portal linked by the Illinois Secretary of State. ILIVS.insure is a separate insurance agency website offering assistance and coverage requests. Use the official state-linked portal for case access and state payments.

When you ask our office for help, you start with a short request and receive a text or phone follow-up. For state transactions, follow the official link above.

If the ILIVS website will not load

Open the official link in a current browser and check the address before entering your information. If the page is blank or stops responding, try another browser or return later. A loading error does not tell you whether your plates are active.

If the page loads but your details are rejected, check the ZIP code printed on the notice, especially after a move. Correcting your mailing address with the state is a separate task. For unresolved access problems, use the help or contact link on ILIVS.com.

A family member helping with the official portal must have the registered owner’s authorization. Our agency verifies registered ownership before sharing case details. Do not enter someone else’s case information without permission.
