Need insurance for your Illinois vehicle?

Tell us you need coverage on the short assistance form. Our office will follow up by text and phone to discuss the vehicle, drivers and insurance options that fit your situation.

Start with a short request

Provide your name, phone number and email, then select “No” when asked whether you currently have auto insurance. If you’re uncertain, choose “I am not sure” so we can help clarify what you have.

Choose the number you have, and the form will open the matching field. If you have none available, select the option to provide it later by text. We will gather the remaining vehicle and driver details when discussing your quote.

What insurance does ILIVS verify?

ILIVS checks the required vehicle liability insurance. Liability coverage addresses covered injury or property damage you cause to others, subject to the policy’s terms and limits. Comprehensive and collision address different risks and do not replace liability insurance.

The state’s minimum liability limits are $25,000 for bodily injury to one person, $50,000 for bodily injury to more than one person in an accident, and $20,000 for property damage. Discuss any additional coverage needs, including lender or lease requirements, with the agent.

Will a new policy resolve an old verification date?

A new policy can establish coverage going forward from its effective date. It cannot make an uninsured earlier date insured. If you had a different policy on the date in the notice, the company or agent that provided that coverage should review and report the historical information.

If you did not have insurance and your plates are suspended, the reinstatement process can involve current insurance evidence, the $100 state fee and any required waiting period. Those steps are separate from requesting or purchasing a policy.

How does insurance reporting fit into the process?

Once the required coverage is in place, the appropriate insurance information must be reported for your ILIVS case. Give the issuing agent the correct reference number. If you purchase coverage through our office, we can handle the applicable reporting for that policy.

If the relevant policy was purchased elsewhere, the agent or company that provided it must handle its insurance reporting. Our office can still help with reference-number assistance and understanding the notice.

How much will my insurance cost?

Your premium depends on the drivers, vehicle, location, coverage and insurer’s underwriting. An ILIVS notice does not create a single statewide insurance price. Our office will gather the necessary details before presenting an available quote.

Keep the policy premium separate from the state’s reinstatement fee. The $100 state fee is not the cost of six months of insurance, a down payment or a guarantee that the plates are cleared.

Do I also need an SR-22?

An ILIVS notice does not automatically mean that you need an SR-22. ILIVS concerns vehicle insurance verification and registration compliance. An SR-22 is a separate financial-responsibility filing that may be required for a driver’s license matter.

If your notice specifically requests an SR-22 or you have a separate driver’s license requirement, tell the agent. A driver can have both issues, but one should not be assumed from the other.

What happens after I submit the form?

Our office will contact you by text and phone. We’ll discuss what you need, gather the information necessary for a quote and help connect the coverage steps with your ILIVS situation. A form submission is a request for assistance; coverage begins only when a policy is issued with an effective date.

If your registration is suspended, confirm the state’s clearance before driving, even after coverage starts.

What we will discuss when you request a quote

We will ask about the vehicle, drivers, current coverage and the date you need a policy to begin. Tell us whether the vehicle is financed, leased, stored or used for work. Those details help us discuss the coverage you need, beyond the ILIVS notice itself.

Compare the premium, payment schedule, liability limits, deductibles and effective date before deciding. If you are changing insurers, confirm the new coverage before canceling the old policy. Requesting a quote does not put coverage in force.

A non-owner or operator policy needs special care when you own the vehicle named in an ILIVS notice. Ask the agent which policy form covers that vehicle and whether a separate SR-22 requirement applies. An SR-22 filing alone does not establish that every ILIVS reinstatement step is complete.

We would like to earn your insurance business. You can also decline a quote, keep your existing insurer, and still receive our ILIVS assistance without a service fee.

You don’t have to figure out your notice alone.

Our ILIVS assistance has no service fee, whether or not you buy insurance through us. Send a request and our office will follow up by text and phone. State fees and insurance premiums are separate.
